According to the World Bank only 54 % of secondary-school aged children are enrolled in schools in Myanmar. With digital technology and social innovation the objective is to initiate change and implement quality education and support for Myanmar’s youth to reach their full potential.
Finja 5 together with Appland are proud to deliver a child-friendly computing solution as part of the Connect to Learn initiative in Myanmar. Connect to Learn is a public-private partnership that involves the use of ICT solutions to promote universal access to quality secondary education in developing countries, with an emphasis on schooling for girls. The project is a coalition project funded by Ericsson, the UK Department for International Development (DFID) and Qualcomm® Wireless Reach™. Other implementation partners are Finja 5, UNESCO, Earth Institute at Columbia University, EduEval Educational Consultancy and Myanmar Posts and Telecommunications.
The project also receives support from the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology in Myanmar.
If you are producing and selling any type of Android phone today, you may have noticed that many phones are very similar and it is hard to understand the difference. When consumers compare phones the discussion circle around megapixels in the camera, how much storage the phone has or how long the battery last. If you are planning to make a phone and release it in the market you need to ask yourself what market segment should you focus on and how should you satisfy this market segment.
In 2020 another 2 billion people will have access to a smartphone. That is double compared to today. Exciting and interesting projects are started globally to spread education via apps to the most rural areas of the planet. For an example Ericsson has partnered with UK government for 14 000 girls’ education in Myanmar and Appland is delivering the technology platform.
Today we are proud to announce that EduGameApps partner with Appland to help educators find the most relevant STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths) and edu games apps available.
The solution is an app recommendation service where educators can find the top edu STEM games on the market.
At Appland we really like Benedict Evans and his great market insights. He work at Andreessen Horowitz ('a16z'), a venture capital firm in Silicon Valley that invests in technology companies.
